Well i used to have good AXO boots end etc but my parents thought it was a great idea to sell that when i traded my dirtbike for a moped a few years back........i guess they didnt know dirt riding is a drug of sorts lol. so now i have a 2001 KX 250 and im going to start doing hare scrambles and i need to buy all my gear again. but im sure the quality of products on the market has changed since i last purchased riding gear. So what are the brands i should look at for my boots, pants, jersey, gloves, helemet etc etc. and what are the brands i should stay away from?

As far as decent MX gear goes, I'm not really sure. I'm sure somebody will come along and offer some good advice.

I will break it down into a few parts, as for simply clothing they are all about the same. I've tried em all over the past 30 years, and they are all ok. My slight favorite is MSR, my least is Thor (thor pants are just too snug in my butt)
Now for Boots, ive tried Fox, and they are good, tried Alpinestars Tech's 6's and 10's and both were an excellent boot, but very pricey. I now have been liking my most recent Gaerne boots, and I must say, I am very pleased with them, they are not a lot of money, broke in very quickly, and are very comfortable. Everyone will have a different opinion, which in the end will tell you that most all clothing is about the same, it's all preference...

I have always preferred Thor over other brands as above stated they (are snug in the butt) is referred to their very true sizing if you are a full 34 then you should probably get the 36 size pants. Jerseys are great sizing on the other end of the spectrum. as far as fox goes I have never really liked anything that I have ever worn from them, I have had zippers bust, buckles break, etc. For boots I have tried A-stars which I love due to the Booties that they have. The break in time I believe is a little long and the boots feel extremely stiff initially. Another really good product that I have tried is six six one. Their boots are much more less expensive and are a definate great buy. They also supply great fitting comfortable helmets that I have been wearing for the past 3 years. Look into 661 I promise you wont be dissapointed.
