Much agreed with checking the valves if they are sticking open you and you happen to get it started then you may be in a world of hurt and could end up with a couple bent valves (sucks). If my memory serves me correctly the 04 and 05 KX 250Fs had weak valve springs and that was a killer in floated valves and such. Before you start tearing down your bike and removing this and that. start by doing a compression test. There is a tool you can buy that will screw down right into the spark plug hole and you will kick the bike over and have your reading. refer this reading to your manual and start trouble shooting and working from there. Always measure twice and cut once ( old carpenters saying)
