Default New to green.. kx65 questions..

I recently bought my 9 yo son a 2005 kx65, great bike and happy so far, we went out for a couple of test rides and he did great although I have a couple of questions and hopefully you folks might be able to answer

He laid it down a couple of times, when it was down the amount of fuel that came out of the vent tubing was amazing, more so that my cr250, I was surprised..after getting it up I could not get it going, I ended up putting it into 4 gear and pushing it to get it started..Is this normal for the models or possibly a float adjustment??

I put in the washer between the head and the pipe to lessen the bite of the powerband, and in reading other posts I understand the 65's have a inherent crank problem, do you guys think the increased back pressure will have a effect on the crank??

Lastly it is a 2005 with not many hours on it, It still has the original rings in it has great compression, when do you guys know when to change the rings out??

Thanks in advance!!

Some of the 65's had crank problems but it was a hit and miss. My daughters 03 I got used and know the original owner. It never had a crank issue and only had one topend replaced. For topend checks, I just do a compression check. Above 130 or so is still pretty good. As for hard starting after a dump, just open up the throttle wide open,...2-3 kicks, fires right up. And yes, lay it on the left and the fuel will run.
