Default Klr 650 ???

Is $2500 a great deal on a 2001 KLR 650? Average? High? Low, so I could make a little money if I bought it for an investment?

It has 4015 miles on it and also comes with a new rear tire and tube that were bought before the owner parked it due to health reasons.

N.A.D.A. shows $2610 as a high and $1985 . I don't believe that to be a really good deal but maybe a fair one, if the bike is in really good condition. I know that here, where I live, the KLR's don't have a very big following and the local dealer blows them out at his cost as the new models approach. If it looks and runs good and you like it, go for it....but it won't be an investment, well maybe an investment in fun!

Thanks! I guess I will pass on it. I may have to buy a 70something Honda GL1000 for $300 he also has though. It looks pretty decent for being stored outside ('cept for the seat) and I could part it out and make $$ if'n it doesn't run.

I wish I could find a bike like that up here in Canada for that price, a 2001 at our dealer was going for $5,595.00 and it's got a sold sign on it, the salesman said KLR's are the best selling bike they have...

Hey Bart 600,
Your dealer in Kamloops is selling expensive.
Showroom price on 2005 KLR's in Lachute, Quebec is $5,9995.00 (cnd).
Could probably negociate another $200 to $300 off at this time of the year.
Shop around.
Cheers,
Koach

How about I deliver it to you in Kamloops for $4400 Canadian!

PS, the bike has a new tire and battery too.

Really? they have the new ones for $7,995.00 marked down from $8,995.00 and you guys can get them for $5,995.00?? Somethings not right there, but then again I know that cars in Kamloops are jacked up in price so why not the bikes and such as well.

Bart600,
Go to this site (Kawasaki Canada) and you will see what Kaw's MSRP for Canada is:
http://72.14.207.104/search?q=cache:...msrp+klr&hl=en
You should not be paying a cent more than that for a brand new KLR. Most dealer undersell MSRP.
Good luck.

I'm picking up and fresh-out-of-the-box 2008 KLR 650 from Bow Cycle in Calgary for $6547.75 - that's out the door - INCLUDING GST. They're having a "summer blowout sale". Lucky me.

I would say its just an okay deal.

Most people want the new and much upgraded 2008 KLR650 now.

Has the DOO been done on it, thats a big selling point to.

Yes, Kawasaki redid the DOO, but the spring is too long and needs to be replaced at around 8K. If your going to change the spring, you are already into the motor, I would change the DOO. But, at least from the factory you get a bike that you don't need to worry about for close to a year.
