clutch basket part year interchangeability

I have a 1992 kx 250 that requires a new clutch basket as there is play between the roller bearing and the basket starter gear. Aftermarket baskets will interchange between '92 thru '05 but you need the starter gear (which is bad on mine) and the larger gear which engages the crank. The factory baskets thru these years all have the same first five part #'s but have different last four part #'s. So clearly the actual basket is the same based on the aftermarket baskets. My question is do the other years have different gears that would prohibit their use in my engine or are they actually the same baskets with different numbers (last four) because of the year??

Hi there, the parts viewer I use only shows the assembled basket with both gears fitted, however, it shows that it is the same part number for all those years. This is a genuine Kawasaki parts list I'm talking about.

I would be forever gratefull if you could direct me to your list. The ones I have seen only show the first five numbers. The baskets I have seen on E-Bay all have the same first five numbers but the last four numbers are different for all the different years. This was true when I went to the kawi dealer as well. Unfortunatly they could'nt confirm if they were interchangeable. Surely someone out there has the answer!!!

Thanks for the site info. Unfortunatly its the same story. Each year has the same first five numbers but different last four numbers. Maybe need a parts person that can physically compare year to year. By the way, please excuse my ignorance but what do the leters BTK mean?
