I have a 1989 KX80 motocross bike. The clutch does not release (Stalls even when clutch lever pulled in fully). I pulled clutch housing off and removed springs. I then put a socket on the 15mm(?) nut in the centre of the crank and jammed the gears (Big outer one and small one forward of the clutch)with a piece of copper.
My Question: Should the crank spin freely? It was tight so I put a smal pice of pipe on it and pushed harder. The crank 'cracked' loose. DidI break something? or did I free up sticky clutch plates? The engine was sitting in a box in a shed for approx 4 years before I got it. Help!! |

nope, spins by hand.
Clutch plates wobbling around in clutch basket tho remember...tension springs removed. Is there some sort of shear pin arrangement? Was only a small piece of pipe I put on the socket bar...didnt think it would put mych more stress on it than a day on the track.. |
