Are you in AUS?
That bike looks like it has a few home made modifications on it. (side panels, rear shock upper mount, linkage mount, rear brake hose) The fork guards and lower axle clamp style look like a KDX250. Any chance it is a KDX250SR??

No im in UK
right. the only homemade mod on it is the heat shield. the plastics are kawasaki as far as i know (only bought it 5weeks ago only got it running 3 weeks ago) the mountings fit the KX shockers so i dont think there homemade, the linkages are the same, the rear brake hose isnt standard because the old one had a split in it. you are right about the forks, the ones i got with the bike where bent so i bought some off a guy with a KDX (same fitting)

Here's some information from my site on how to find out what year it is for US release bikes. UK bikes may be the same.
KDXGarage - VIN Information 1989 Europe release KX's had USD forks, but 1989 USA release KX's still had the conventional style forks. That is one example of a change that may make USA - UK comparisons a little tricky. There may be a parts diagram section on the UK Kawasaki site, but I am not sure. It is worth a look. If it is safe, and you are having fun, then it is OK!

Using your website i have worked out the age of my bike,1987 (KX125E2), by the way mine did have standard forks (RWU) but as i say they where bent so i got some USD forks and yolks which came off a KDX125 SR.

With a perimeter frame, wouldn't it be at least a 1990 model??
What size engine is it?? It should say (in cc) on the side. Is it a KDX125 / KDX125SR or KDX250SR? I think I see a coolant catch tank on it. KX's don't usually come with that. Also, is the shock stock? I don't think that is a KX, though the stickers on the shrouds may read that. Post a VIN and engine numbers. A guy on here named kawa1hc has some information on the engine numbers that will help out tremendously.

KX125E - 895044
both engine and frame are that yes it is a steel swinging arm the frame has been painted blue by the previous owner and he didnt do a very good job - im probably going to give it a good repainting session sometime over winter. its 124cc with a 2mm over size piston in so its a 126cc technically The coolant tank i added before when i had a leaky radiator - never bothered to take it off.

I think you have a 100% Frankenbike!
There should be a 17 digit VIN on the head tube. The engine number will be on the right side of the engine, close to the kickstart shaft. In the USA, the KX125 did not have two radiators until 1990. It had an aluminum swingarm since the early '80's.

my local Kawasaki dealer asked where it came from when i took it in for a sevice, i told him (it's from scotland) and he said it could be anything, he had bought a KMX125 off sum1 from scotland - only thing was it dint have a KMX engine it had a KTM engine with everything ground off and re stamped, including the KIPS had been stamped on!

i think KDXgarage is right i think you have a fraken bike .... is it just me or do the plastics notlook right for this bike in particular the side panels ... they look as if they have 2 sets of mounting holes and the rear subframe looks as though there is a mount for either a pipe or plastics that isnt being used ..... just thought that looked weird is all
