My son races a 07 kx65 and I changed the gearing to a 49 rear with a 13 front. This seems to be working well considering he can ride in 3rd/ 4th all day except 5th on the straight aways. It really has imrpoved his control in the soft sand which we get a lot of in floirda. Team green recommends a 14 front with a 46 rear. This gives the bike a lower gear ratio with more top end I'm assuming. Do you think the bike will get better track performance or speed with a lower gear ratio? Most the tracks we ride are soft, curvy, without alot of straight aways. Any suggestions?

Hi pal sorry you did not change anything except sprockets.Rule of thumb,1 tooth in front eq. roughly 3 in back I dont know what stock gearing is on the kx. But i know a soft course lots of straights, sand,I would go up a tooth in front no sence in spinnin your wheels.Sorry I just reread your post <with out a lot of straights> I'd go stock gearing If he's not tacking out in the straights.Any thing I can help with just whistle,Went through this with both my own boys .enjoy while it lasts Ron
