Default 95' KX 100 running extremely rich...

95' KX 100 running extremely rich I took the carb off this bike and cleaned it because it was hard to start and would bogg win you rolled on the throttle
but it wasn't running rich...the carb was clean inside but the piolet jet was totally clogged up with little fiber like materials (probably from the old air filter)...

I cleaned the carb and put it back together and now it starts easily but is running very rich so rich that it won't idle and will stall if you try and ride it very far...I replaced the air filter with a DT1 racing foam filter that doesn't require you to use grease for a seal...there is a lot of oil on the plug and coming out of the silencer after only a few minutes running time...

I checked the float level and it's at the 19mm specification when i put the pilot jet in i screwed it down all the way until it was tight and did the same with the main jet and jet holder before tightening the locknut...i have tried the needle clip position in both the 4th (stock position) and the 2nd which i beleive is suppose to be leaner...i have mixed gas a 36:1 and 40:1 i'm not sure what might be wrong since it wasn't running rich before i cleaned the carb and replaced the air filter...

any help would be appreciated...Thanks

You need to jet down from stock to get it leaned out. I bought 3 different mains and pilots and tried each one until I got the best performance and plug condition. Its all trial and error. It's also a good idea to make sure the powervalve is clean along with the exhaust free of obstructions.
