I originally thought it was a bad seal letting trans fluid in, but I watch the level very close and I don't seem to be losing any trans fluid. The top end was fresh and it still did it so I don't think that is the problem either. The reeds are stock so they could be a bit old, it might be worth changing them.
Bones454 what elevation are you ridding at? I am anywhere from 3000' to 4500'. I have checked the plugs and it is getting plenty of fuel. I will try dropping a few pilot sizes once I have your elevation. Thanks. |

As you drop a step at a time you will see the plug start to dry,you want a dark brown not black,my bike is so responcesive but not doing any damage to the motor,go back to the top of the jetting forum and if you can turn the air screw in without killing the motor its to rich.My bike is also set up at 40 to 1 honda hp2 or redline the two best oils, yamaha is good to.If anybody rides other than WFO try going down on the pilot once you get it the plug not so wet you'll see the difference.

Thanks for all the info.
I definitely need to drop the jetting, the plug is very wet and black. You mentioned that you are running the stock Main jet. Since I got my bike used, and I'm not sure if the previous owner was messing with this carbs, what size of main jet should I be running? Rj Last edited by rjm350 : 07-21-2008 at 10:31 AM. |
