I've rode before but only a few hours of experience. I took the MSF course ( thinking i was going to buy a Motorcycle). I learned a lot thoe.
I was thinking to get a dirt bike that could also be used for the road to get from trail to trail ( No truck =/ I was curious if you guys could give me some good ideas of a first bike.. I was thinking in the 250 range... not sure is 400 or 450 would be too much for me. I'm looking for 4 stroke. Already checked out the TT-R 250, but heard it was kind of shotty on the road and just decent on the trials. thanks! |

Well if your heart is set on the Kawasaki line of bikes and you want a bike that can be plated then look at the KLR or KLX line of bikes The KDX can also be plated in the right state.

being new to riding ( or fairly new) i dont think you should get a 400-450 that would be alot of bike for you to trail ride a 250 on the other hand would be about right the only problem is that if you get serious about riding and start riding alot you MAY and i say MAY want that MORE power and then yearn for a 450 ......... the other thing to think about is in alot of states the smallest you can run on most higways is 250cc ....... just something to think about but if i were you id check out the klx 250 ( they say its just as good as a kx250f )
oh and a smoker is a 2 stroke bike

I WONT be taking this bike on a highway.. mostly back roads to get to the trails i want to get at.. But i want it to be powerful enough so i don't hold up traffic in a 45MPH. Would a KLX 250 better then the TTR 250? Or is it apples and oranges? |

me personally i bleed green but im not sayin that the ttr is a bad bike at all it all depends on what your preference is .......... some things are better on one and things are better on the other .... but i would also look at is there a dealer in your area to support you ? it really sucks to drive a couple of hours just to buy a bike you want to get it home and break a lever or something then realize that the closest place to get the replacement part is where you bought the bike ............... a couple hours away ...... that sucks !!!
