Another VIN question

Living in Costa Rica and came across a KDX250. Trying to determine exactly what year model it is so I can order a few things but all I have is the head tube number DX250F-016279. Any help would be great as trial and error shipping to Costa Rica takes forever and is crazy expensive.

A normal VIN is 17 digits, and the tenth digit is the year code. The number you posted looks more like an engine number than a VIN.

Is the bike air cooled or liquid cooled?

If it is liquid cooled, does it have blinkers, an aluminum gasoline tank and an oil tank for two stroke oil?

There was an international street legal KDX250 (KDX250SR), which was not released in the USA. We just had a dirt only version. There were five air cooled models from 1980 - 1984, then four liquid cooled models from 1991 - 1994. Again, that is in the USA.

That 12 digit number is the only set stamped on the head tube that I can see. I'll scrape some of the 6 layers of paint off the other side later today and see if theres anything else.

Water cooled, metal (maybe aluminum) gas tank, no separate oil tank, there are supposed to be turn signals but they are gone along with the tail light.
