89 KX250 Fuel Tank

Hi All
I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the fuel capacity on a stock 1989 KX250 is? I find the bike is very heavy on fuel compared to my buddies KDX200, and am thinking of putting on a long range tank. In this regard, would a long range tank from a 1997 KX250 fit the 1989 model?

i have a 96 kx250 and a guy i know has a 90 kx250 and the tank plastics etc are completley different so i would assume it wouldnt fit

I imagine it would fit if you got the plastics to match.
I have found quite a few parts from using this website: Welcome to Kawasaki.com, if you go through it you will come to a screen with a list of options, if you select part diagrams you may be able to work it out if you open to screens and have the 97 and 89 diagrams.
