    Default Kawasaki KX125

    Hello people,

Im 15 years old and have talked whit my dad about getting a dirtbike, and he gave me premission to buy one. Well i begun to search for different dirtbikes and got really "stuck" on the kawasaki kx125.

    well now to my questions:

    1. I found a guy who sells a Kawasaki KX125 -02 for about 2500$. The bike really looks great, and he have gone trough the whole engine 6 hourse of riding ago. And then he swaped the piston and stuff like that he said.

Is it worth buying this one?

    2. I dont know to much about this bike. Is there any common problems about the -02 bikes?

    3. Would you recommend any other "year model" (couldent find another word )

I would be really happy if someone could give me any answeres. And sorry for my English. Im from cold and dark sweden and school aint something i really like

I just bought an 02' KX250 with a rebuilt engine for $1600 so I think the guy is asking too much. Do you live in the states now?

craigslist classifieds: jobs, housing, personals, for sale, services, community, events, forums is a great site to find cheap bikes

Depending on the condition, the bike seems a little overpriced--this is a 5 year old bike. But 2002 was a good year.

I would look for a slightly cheaper/earlier model until you are really competative, theres no point spending that much on first bike I think 1994-1996 don't look too shabby.

The 125 is a good starter bike if your big (like me: 6ft and 16stone at 13).

I would really like a dirtbike, but when ur saying that i should take an erlier model, then i got some questions.

    1. how much should i pay for a 1994-1996?

    2. is it much difference in power/preformance between a 1994/1996 to a 00+ ? Beacuse i have only really seen kawasakis AFTER 00. and they looked so strooong :]

    3. I dont really want something that breaks first thing that happens. Is it more common that the older models gets broken then the newer ones?

Sorry for the stupid questions. But sometime i gotta learn it .

Im not small at all i think. i cant tell you how long i am in foot. but im 1,83 meters anyway .

And im not completly new to motorbikes and stuff. Iv been riding moped since i was 14. Right now im riding a tuned moped that goes about 55 mph. That gives atleast some driver experience. And iv tested my older brothers 250 dirtbike.( wich i belive is a little much )

I'm not sure about prices in sweeden but in the UK a 2000+ 125 is about £1000/£2000 and a 1996 is about £600 for a showroom condition one but normally £400 tops.

As for power differance in a straight line, it all depends on how its tuned but on a track it depends again on how its tuned but also how the suspention is set-up (I wouldn't worry about this at a novice level).

Well, i think im going to buy the kawasaki from -02, but my dad is going to talk to this guy about the price, he know this guys a little so maybe i can get it a lill cheaper :]. But money aint something thats the problem, i will soon have 3500$.

I cant really find an earlier model from kawasaki thats close to me. the closest one is a -98 for the SAME price as the one im going to buy, wich i think is pretty much stupid to buy. The -02 looks way much better.

I gonna have this dirtbike just as a toy, not competing or something.

    thanks for the help guys

That is way over priced, you should be able to find 2005's for that.

Right now the dollar is pretty cheap or how to speak right? heard on the news thats its really really low.

In sweden we dont use dollars we uses "kronor", for some years ago 1 dollar was worth about "8,4 swe kronor", right now its 6,2 "swe kronor" thats probably the reason its so over priced for you guys.

When the dollar was high the bike would have cost about 1600$

    hope you understand

Anyways my dad talked to this guy and he got the price down to about 1900$ wich is about 12000 swe kronor. and thats fair enought i think, thats why im buying it this month.
