Does anyone know where to find the history of the KX 500? I know it didn't change much from 1987 to 2004 but there were still some upgrades except bold new graphics such as the change from conventional to inverted forks. If not a history I'm trying to match up some triple clamps and forks. The triple clamps are supposed to be for 1989 but they're bigger than my 1988 model but I don't think they're big enough for inverted forks. Does anyone know the O.D. of the inverted fork upper leg?

If memory serves the 88 kx 500 had 43mm forks and the 89 had 46mm fork tubes. So if the triple clamp is for a 89 it should measure 46mm. They went to a 41mm inverted fork in 1990 which would be a lot larger but I don't have a measurement for those. In 93 or 94 they went to a 43mm inverted fork and then changed to 46mm inverted in 1997 and they haven't changed since!
