Default kx125_1999 with kx1998 piston??

Hello all this is my first post, so here goes, im currently performing a top end rebuild on my kx125 1999 model and i went to order a new piston giving the number of the current piston to dealer, only to find out it was a 1998 piston in my motor, im certain my bike is a 1999 model from the vin here are the wiseco piston part # 1998_719ps and this number for 1999_2000_741ps so yer i dont have the exact specs of each piston and dont know where to find them so i can figure out whats the deal?? i am the second owner of this bike so i dont know what the previous owner has done or why there is a 1998 piston in my 1999 model kx125??? any help would be fantastic thanks

The piston part no. goes 1998_719ps_1999_2000_741ps.

That implys to me that it fits the 1998, 1999 and 2000 models. Did it run before with that piston in?

there are two different part numbers there, one for 1998 wich i found in my 1999 motor and one for 1999_2000 models wich is my model kx125 i need to know the difference between the two piston part numbers so i can determine what piston to purchase for my 1999 barrel...

If you are sure it's a 1999 then you need the 1999 piston. Can you post the VIN no.?

ok here they are VIN# jkakxrlc4xa005585 and the motor number is kx125le005786...

I wouldn't sweat on it, my old 2002 kx 125 ran with 1998 pro lite wiseco piston in it. Went well. Check with a shop that does mods for motors. They be up to date on piston changes etc

Its Definitely a 1999, so you need a 1999 piston.

yer thanks gaz i am going to put the same piston back in it went well with it before so why fix somthn that aint broke?? ps thanks kick arse for the advice too...

Wiseco sometimes do that, 99-01 and 02-04 kx 250's have 2 different part numbers for pistons where other piston companies list one piston for 99 to 04. The difference is a longer front skirt on the 02-04 piston but either piston works in a 99-01 bike.
