Question 2003 KX 125 Carb Problems???!!!!!

Hello all!
My first post here so I thank everybody in advance for their help and opinions on this matter!
Here is the question I have just bought a 2003 KX 125 and the problem I am having is when the bike idles it wont hold a good steady idle it ups and downs on me and sometimes I have to crack the throttle to bring it back down then its fine for a while. It also seems like I really have to pour on the gas from a stop to get it going (partly due to clutch out of adjustment i think) but it just seems a bit groggy to me. I am 6 feet and just shy of 200 lbs I would think this bike should have a bit more pep than this?!! I have not checked the compression yet but it seems to run smoothly other than the above said issues. I know there could be a number of different combos of what could be wrong but I think it is carburation, power reeds,or maybe the KIPS for the exhaust is all clogged???!
The power band seems a bit weak
Any and all opinions and hints are welcomed
P.S. I have printed the Spanky's Jetting guide and I will work on that tomorrow to see if that helps
Thanks
Andy

Just try to take of a carb, and check all gaskets and o-rings on damage!
Because if you have air leak you will have jumping idle!

Well after a compression check BEFORE I stared into jetting the carb properly I have found the USED bike I bought needs a top end rebuild!!! It only has 118 PSI and is well below specs according to my factory manual. Not happy to say the least! Now the rebuild begins..It appears the engine has never been apart any suggestions from anybody as what all to do when she is apart?
Thanks
