1986 kdx200 ignition timing

Hi there,i have aquired a 1986 kdx200 aircooled model,bought as a nonrunner,i have fitted-a new sator,a new coil,a new sparkplug,a good cdi unit and fitted new piston rings ,it sparks ok and compression is good,fuel is present(wets plug after a bit)bike still doesnt want to start? took air filter out give it a good kick(on kick start)TEMPTATION! engine backfired down exhaust? checked timing marks and are lined up as in manual,does anybody have correct timing details or any ideas?MANY THANKS!:

Congratulations on getting an '86 KDX200. I have a 1987 KDX200.

Do you see three marks at about 10 o'clock behind the stator? There is a raised line on the stator I beleieve (or maybe an open slot). It is supposed to be lined up with the center mark.

the timeing should be set at 22 degrees before top dead center
