Default 2 STRK Pipe Repair?

Has anyone succesfully repaired a few dents in their pipe? I've heard of a few different ways {pressurized/torch, water/freezing} but they both seem like they could go bad in a big way. It is a FMF Gnarly and I'm pretty sure these use thicker steel than most. I've also seen shops that advertise $50 repairs, any thoughts?

The easiest way I've found for doing it is to simply drill a 1/4" hole opposite side from the dent...insert a steel rod to work out the dents and then weld the hole back over.

Wow!! Never thought of that. I was wondering for the exhaust inept...what difference will a dent make in the performance of a pipe and will it be noticeable? I guess my other ? would be how big a dent justifies a repair?
Thanks

For the average rider. I doubt the difference in how the bike runs would be noticeable. I think it's more of a looks thing. It would have to be a sizable dent, for the average rider to notice a performance difference.

Thanks for the replies. I didn't think it would be that big of a deal either but always want to make sure as to not damage something that will lead to bigger costlier repairs!

Yeah dude, i had a bad dent in my friends yz250. he asked mt if i could fix it for him and i said yeah but till be ugly as hell. he said ugly doesnt matter so, i cut the entire crunch (it was about 2" deep of a dent in the expansion chamber" I cut the entire chunch out and took a piece of 1/16th" steel plate and cut it a little bigger then then hole i made. then i curved it pretty close to the curvature of the pipe and stitch welded it all up with my mig. he says its good as new so.... if its a wicked dent, thats a cheap fix. I wouldnt freeze or torch it bro. good luck kid. later.
