Where did fifth gear go?

I recently switched my tranny fluid {under advice from many including this site} from 10-40 to ATF-F. Clutch action is like new, and it shifts great, except when cold. When the tranny is cold {first lap of the day} it doesn't want to shift into fifth. Once I'm riding for a bit, the bike seems to shift all gears fine. Any ideas???? [2001 KX250]

we have had issues with tranny shifting on our KX 65, when I switched from the high end recommended oil to AUTO ZONE 20-50, the problems disappeared! I change it after 4 races, or two practice sessions, its all good!

Switch to a different oil. Maybe ATF doesn't cure everything like Snake Oil used to.
