Default piston pin puller

I was going to the top end on a 77 ke250. I've never worked bikes, do I need a piston pin puller? Or can I get it out by some other means? If so can I get one that will work at an auto parts store or do I need one specific for this bike?

I used a deep well socket to remove my wrist pin I just pushed it through by hand no hammering or forcing involved. However if you feel you have to force it then yes use a pin puller!

They usually come out with hand force. Don't buy one until you are sure you need it. DO NOT beat on it. That is a sure way to mess up the connecting rod big end bearings.

the pin can get stuck sometimes, the way I do it is:
get a sliding "F" clamp, (the small ones cost a couple of bucks), put a deep larger that the pin socket on one side of the piston, then put a deep smaller than the piston pin socket on the other side, now using the "F" clamp slowly push the socket through. If the pin is really tight the larger socket will have to be changed for something that won't mark the piston (wood etc). This has never happened as the pin is only usually too tight for taking it out by hand.

As already said, it should push out easily.

Do not start pounding on it.

If its stuck badly, a shop would likey use their press and push it out for you for free, or very cheap, as its a 1 minute job.
