Default kx 250 1998 - boyesen rad valve

Ive fitted a New 2005 Boyesen rad valve to my 1998 kx250.
Bike ran ok before, but now it runs at a high tick over with the idle speed screw all the way out. Throttle cable is not trapped by the tank. Any one have any suggestions other than put the original part back on?
    Thanks

    Maybe it is leaner now?

Don't really know what "runs at a high tick over with idle speed screw all way out" means.

So, it idles at a higher RPM now?

Is the carb at the same angle as stock? using the air box?

Did you take the carb off as a unit, or did you unscrew top and remove slide beforehand...if so the slide might be sticking slightly. Or, it's drawing more air in from somewhere.

Certain bikes are designed to work properly with certain parts. Installing a 2005 Boyesen rad valve to a 1998 is an obvious problem waiting to happen. As much as you dont want to hear it try reinstalling the right part for your bike or buy the right boyesen rad valve on the bike and my guess is that it will run a lot better. There are many things that make that part different from one to another. I just changed mine to the boyesen on my 96 kx 250 and it made all the difference in the world and mine said specifically made for only 94-96 with a part number of RAD12A. What is your part #???? I put a RAD12A on my 1986 Tecate/KX250 and it ran fine for more than 2 years now. The carb is not even level/at the right angle.

Maybe he has an air leak at the air box boot?
Maybe we will never know cause he'll never respond?
