Okay I've been riding my new boy toy for a lil over two weeks now.. (least it seems that long cause one whole week it rained
) but i filled it up just before it started raining so i didn't ride it, it was at like .1 on the trip odometer when i got it home from the gas station. well today i hit 103.0 on the odometer and the fuel light indicator came on. now this is putting me at about 30 mpg... and umm yeah i know that's not right. does my doing a lot of inside the city riding have anything to do with this lowering my mpg? i usually hit the highway which directly leads into the city, then i have to go through all the stop lights and traffic on my way to work through downtown 3 days a week. which sucks big time cause i'd rather be on campus doing something better with my time, like studying. i know since its gotten back up into the 70's i've been out on the highway going back and forth to campus in the morning and afternoons. then a lil bit of cruising the back roads and doing what ever when i have free time. what else can i do to get better milage out of this bad boy... cause if i have to stop and fill up every 100 miles its gonna be a bummer sure its only a couple of gallons.. but still ... blah

I am getting about 37 mpg out of mine with city and highway riding. The only thing I can think of to improve it is make sure the bike is in peak operating order. Being in the 30's is fairly normal for these bikes as to what I have heard others say they get. Ride the bike some more and make sure you fill it to the same level every time so you get a accurate estimate of mpg. Also I have gotten gas from different stations which never seems to get as good of mileage as some other stations.

How much gas do you actually need to refill the tank? IME the light on most bikes comes on with anywhere from a half to almost a full gallon of gas left. So figure out how much gas you are pumping in and do your math based on that. Are you running an aftermarket rear sprocket that makes you cruise at higher than normal RPMs? I would have thought the 636 would have gas mileage in the 40s for "regular" riding, maybe not.

When I 1st got my bike a few months ago I was only getting 33mpg. I think it had to do with me being a new rider and not shifting properly, riding the lower gears a lot harder then I should. As of my last two fill ups I am getting about 37 MPG. I attribute this to gained experiance and I also inflated my tiresto 35psi front and 40psi rear from 30 front to 35 rear

i have a 05 636 my first tank of gas i ever used was about 40mpg. I can get 50mpg driving it nice and not revving it out too much. but i got as low high 20's. Needless to say that was a fun tank of gas. Mostly around 40 average though

I have gotten ~46 on several occasions driving it easy on the highway. I have gotten low 30s ripping around town with my buddies.

I get about 130 or so before the light comes on and that usually leaves me with about a gallon left in reserve. I'm pretty confident I could get 160 on a tank before running out.
Last time I calculated it was about 39.5mpg for around town stuff and cruising ~80mph in the HOV lane

According to the spec sheet the 2007's gas tank will hold 4.5 gallons of gas.
So simple range estimates are: 30mpg -> 135 miles 35mpg -> 157 miles 38mpg -> 171 miles 40mpg -> 180 miles 45mpg -> 202 miles Keep in mind that those ranges empty the tank. No reserve left. Take off 20 miles and you should be safe.

I have been getting about 150miles a tank last fill up i got about 141 or so but i was also romping on it with some buddies around town and interstate. I avg. it to be about upper 30's lower 40's for city and low 40'd for long distance. Either way to me its a plus over my 11mpg jeep

The most I got was around 186 and filled up with 4.1 gallons but that was riding conservative to see how far I could go. After the custom map, I typically get around 150ish normal spirited riding before the light comes on.

I average about 47-49 in the summer. But when i made it to the southern part of the US for a week I was averaging 55mpg and hit a top of 60mpg and it wasn't granny driving either

well i'll be out this weekend, yeah me finished the homework early!!! so i'll zip around a fill it up see how much i run out before the light comes on, then fill it back up, see where it puts me. then do a lil bit of calculating. would just hate to be somewhere and it cut off on me and no gas stations around anywhere. cause i do like to find back roads and just go exploring this city (although there ain't muc to explore).
so hopefully by monday i can have something good to report

I was getting about 45 easy riding but raise heck in the mountains and that drops to the mid 30"s quick. Now with the PC and obviously more fuel I'm afraid to check it. Perception after 150 miles and what I've been adding here at home it ain't good. I'll try and remember to post after more tuning.
