Talking The New Hotness

After seeing pictures of a members 07 ZX-10R on these forums, I fell in love. I absolutely loved the dual undertail exhaust. So, I started searching around my area for one, and after expanding my search area found a great deal on a brand new 07 ZX-10R at a dealership near Charlotte. Thursday, a friend and I took a road trip up there (160 miles) and bought it on the spot. It was a fun, but tiring ride home.

As always, the requisite pics.

Congrats, and welcome to the 10R family!

First thing, take it easy for awhile till you get used to it. These bikes are monsters once you hit 7000 RPMs. Next, get rid of those stock tires as soon as you're able to. Even if you go with the non-OEM Dunlop Qualifiers, it's a HUGE upgrade. And last, take some time to get used to the front brakes. They are known to be a weak spot with these bikes. If you're inclined, replace them with ZX6R or ZX14 calipers. If not, you should be fine once you're used to them.

Enjoy and be safe!

Yes, it's an 08 135i in sapphire black metallic. I love it. A little 305 HP twin turbo rocket with the luxury inherent in all BMW's.

Thanks, and some of the things you've mentioned I've noticed already. I've been taking it pretty easy since it's still in the break in period, but 100 mph in second gear without breaking a sweat I have experienced. Also, how do you operate the controls while hanging on for dear life! Strangely enough I did get the impression that the brakes seemed a little weak and wondered if it was just my imagination.

I really like the stock look of the bike and don't plan on modding it too much yet. Frame sliders, fender eliminator, and tinted windscreen are first priorities.

I've had mine for a little over a year now, and that's about all the mods I've done. R&G frame sliders, fork sliders and swingarm spools, tinted DB windscreen, Progrip 724's, rim stripes, steel valve stems and new tires...that's it. The bike really doesn't need much else. I'm just now getting around to seriously looking at exhaust cans, but I'm in no hurry. The only other things I'm considering are a rear tire hugger and the solo seat cowl. I could care less about all the performance mods out there. This bike will get you killed in a hurry if you're not careful, and I have no aspirations to take it to the track (that's what the 600 is for). 9100 miles so far, and I'm still smiling and learning to tame this beast.

Great find on that 10r! The 06-07 style is definitely my favorite as well.

Also, the 135i looks great. My buddy just bought a 335i and that thing is a blast. I can only imagine that the lighter 135i has even more pop to it.

Congrats and beautiful bike. I hear you can make quite a bit of horsepower by turning the boost up on that 135!
