This from a friend that I recommended Seafoam for his rough idling bike after it came out of storage...
emptied the tank which I had, of course, just filled up (5+ gallons). Gave myself a good soakin', my boots will probably still smell like gas at our next visit. I pours me a can of Seafoam in the tank and fire it up (I had already warmed it up real good to give myself a fair chance of catching it on fire). Ok, no fire....all's well. She's purring along great, then she starts to stumble....I tried choking her,no help, and everytime I would try to give her a little more Seafoam she acted like she was gonna die. Oh yeah.. we were talking about the bike weren't we.....anyway she stumbled back inside the house and was fine. Ok, back to the bike...... I was able to keep it running only with the choke full ON, and then only barely. Got worse and worse till it would not run at all. So I look inside the tank and cannot see any Seafoam in there, and I'm thinking "man that stuff burns fast" (turns out there is a baffle inside the tank) I am sure there was plenty left. So I pour a second can of Seafoam in and fill the tank most of the way full with gas and try again, still would not run for more than a couple of seconds and when I tried to give it a little gas it would cut out. After multiple starts and delicate "noodling" with the throttle and choke I was able to get it stumbing along at a reasonable, but rough, RPM. I goosed it hard a few times and it coughs out a big carbon cloud and started to run much better. It seems the carb has passed it's clot. I let it idle for awhile and it settles into a nice easy lope just like the old days. Also gone is the bad stumble just off idle. Sweet! Revs great too. Took it out for a quick toot and it is running very clean and strong. Still will not wheelie though. Thanks for the advice Brian, for $16 I have my bike back, there's no telling what the shop would have taken me for.

Ran 1/3 a can thru the Jeep's intake, and it blew a bunch of garbage out the back end. Seems to idle a lot smoother now.
I also substitute Seafoam for triple sec in my margarita's.

the stuff worked on my car. Made it run a lot better and I noticed the gas mileage increase. I don't think you're supposed to use as much as Brian's story suggested though. I was told a 1/2 of a can for every 12 gallons of gas. For our tanks that would be like 1/8 of a can every fill up.

You're ok with 2 ounces per gallon. that's what I always use.

Good to hear good reports. I finally got my bike back together last night. As I assembled the bike I used a syringe and filled the injector lines with Seafoam before connecting the tank to the feed line. Mixed propper ratio in full tank of 92 octane. Fired her up...well, she did spit and sputtered for a while...had to use choke as well...then like magic she started to clear out and run like a new bike............I do not know how much was the Seafoam and how much was my cleaning & flushing, but I'm sold on Seafoam. Going to pick up some more tonight and give the treatment to all of my vehicles...including the lawn-mower!

Yup. It is good for all! Helps keep stuff from building up, and sucks water up. That's especially good in the winter.
My buddy is always good for a good story. I guess he was somewhat of a "wild child" as a youth. And there is still a hair of that left in him I think. He is a very good sort. Many stories about when he was young and had a much loved little Honda. Got pulled over for doing a wheelie down the middle of the main drag thru town. Police was beside himself and spitting, "You were standing on the seat" He said, "It's a new bike! (pointed to the temp tag) I didn't know it was so powerful! I was standing on the seat trying to push the front end down." He got no ticket. Lives a charmed life Brian

Anyone notice that Seafoam smells like rubbing alcohol? The can says it's made from petroleum but I've never smelled any pretroleum product that smells anything like alocohol. Not even a hint. The testimonals are undeniabal that it works. I just think it's odd.

I had an uncle that was a mechanic and he would always suggest pouring a bottle of rubbing alcohol in the fuel tank if there was water in it. I've never heard of any petroleum based product that would help remove water yet that's what they claim. |
