Removing Rear Seat 2001 zx6r

Anybody know how to remove the rear seat? I got the repair manual and it says to turn the key counter clockwise while lifting on the seat, but that doesn't seem to do squat.

Some times when the seat is stuck you can push down on the seat alittle, it will help take some of the pressure off the lock mechanism.Don't put to much, you can feel the lock disengage when its done right

Unfortunetly I can't feel the lock pop or move or do anything. I played with it for a bit yesterday, no avail.

Luckily my girlfriends, Roommates, Boyfriend is the owner/head mechanic of a relatively big bike shop here...
