1989 1000 ninja STALLS when put in first gear with clutch pulled ! Bike has been sitting awhile ! HELP

Bike is running fine in nuetral and stall when put in first gear with clutch pulled ! What can be the prob ? please help thats !

Check your side stand switch, it may be out of adjustment of have a broken wire. It's a safety devise to prevent driving with the side stand down.

My 90 ZX-10 was doing the same thing. Mike is correct, it's most likely the sidestand switch. Spray the plunger with a little WD-40. Sometimes, when they get old and dirty, they stick. Sprayed mine about 3 years ago, and haven't had a problem since.

Are you saying it stalls the moment you put in gear or when you start to release clutch.
They are two different problems.

Hey thanks alot for the help ! and yes it was that switch it wasn't reading closed and was shutiing the bike down . But ran into another prob, the oil drain has a crack running up the thread ! so the pan will need to be replaced or repair . and then getting gaskets for this bike will probably take forever ! Can you silocone the oil pan ?

If possible, remove the oil pan and get a "Timesert" installed by a machine shop.
