92 ex500 won't idle

i have a 1992 ex500. picked it up from a friend a few weeks ago on trade for an old dirt bike. problem is, i can't get it to idle. it'll start fine with the choke, but idle at a ridiculously high rpm. if i take the choke off, the motor wants to idle at 3000 rpm. if i turn the idle down below 3k, it instantly dies. i have taken both carbs apart and cleaned them. i've been riding dirt for years now, but i'm kinda new to the street bike world. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Off the top of my head i would say the Pilot jets are still blocked.

They have extremely small opening which are difficult to clean when clogged up badly.

TBH i often replace them as there not expensive.

I would recheck the pilot jets and also check the valve clearances.
