Im looking to buy a motorcycle, i really like the zzr 600 look (dream bike ever since i was 8 ) my uncle had one in 1992...
anyway i have been researching the zzr, and zx6 and have not been able to find when it was the first year in which the zzr600 was marketed in the us, (i live in california) so i found some zzr 600s from 94, but also zx6s from 94 up to 97..... does anyone know?.... im very confused.... I am looking to purchase a 98 zzr (the earliest year i found) Also does anyone recommend some gear? im am looking at a very tight budjet of 600 usd for a helmet, jacket, and gloves.... I would really really appreciate any comments you guys and girls have on this. Last edited by Thmastr : 09-12-2005 at 11:19 PM. |

For gear - HJC helmets are nice and reasonable in terms of dollars - 150 or so. I have a CL-14. I forget the style, but it is silver, black and white. I added a silver shield for 35 bucks. The AC-11's are nice as well.
I have cheapy gloves from coretex (20 bucks), but they work great. Hit the local bike shop. Tell them what you are looking to spend - I would under-estimate it by a few bucks at least - and let them make the suggestions. They are likely riders in your area, so they will have an idea of what is good for your weather and roads. Good luck and safe riding! Tweak

You're looking for a ZX-6E (or maybe a D model). The D model was produced from 90-93 as the ZX6 in the US. The E model was produced from 93-01 as the ZX6(yes 93 had both D's and E's, look at the Vin to determine the bike), and 02-04 as the ZZR600. The 05 ZZR600 is a different bike. Come on over to www.zx6e.com for more info on these bikes. There's even a couple for sale over there, but don't know if any are in california.

Wow thanks a lot! that page really helped, now i know i can go down to 93, and that way i will save a ton of money both on the bike and on insurance. Im 20 years old and and i will be getting my license and safety course this month, insurance for a year 98 model is pretty high up there so knowing i can get that body style and have a much older bike will help my budget.
once again thanks a lot! |
