    Default brighter headlight bulb?

Does anyone know if there is a brighter, higher output whiter headlight bulb available for a 1990 ZX-10? I am looking for something that will plug right in to the factory harness without modifications and without overheating the wiring. Thanks.

I think you answered your own question.

If you go with a more powerful bulb, it is just going to generate more heat, and melt the wiring (which is only designed for 55-65W). With the added negative that it is not going cast anymore light. It is just going to make your existing beam pattern brighter. Which on a motorcycle is not very large.

I told someone else, if you want better lighting, by a bike that has better lighting. It all has to do with the optics of the reflector housing.

See if a Sylvania Silverstar lamp is available for your bike. I found one for my Ninja 500R a while back and its great! I don't remember what the wattage is compared to the stock bulb, but I don't think it was much. The major advantage of the Silverstar is the "color temperature" of the bulb: It's a "whiter" light than the standard tungsten bulb. Also, make sure your headlamp is properly aimed. That will go a long way towards increasing your ability to see the road.
