Hey all
I have 86 ninja 1000r and i notice that once i start to go above about 20 mph i hear this kindof wo wo wo wo wo wo wo sound from below me, is this the chain. the chain was in rough shape when i got it but i cleaned lubed and tightened it and the wo wo wo noise is still there engine revs fine clutch grabs good and the tranny shifts good except every so often if i dont shift up into second hard with my foot it goes into neutral whats up with that? anyways if you have any idea what this wo wo wo wo wo (whoah) is please let me know Thanks |

I don't know about the wo wo noise, but my '90 ZX-10 acts like your description of slipping into neutral instead of second. If I shift it hard it is fine, but if I baby it then it seems to go into neutral. My chain was in pretty bad shape too. I just replaced the chain and sprockets, but have a little more work to do before I put it back on the road. I am hoping some of the chain noise will not be as noticeable now...and am curious as to whether it will have any affect on the shifting issue. I bet you are right about your noise being the chain, but someone here like QKENUF4U will most likely know what is going on for sure.
