Sit speling cheker

I have an 04 Ninja 500 and lately have been having battery problems. I went away for college in september. The alarm sensitivity was set too high on the shock sensor and the alarm basically killed my battery. When I went home in mid october, I jumped the battery from and let it run still hooked up to a good battery for a bit. It ran fine and I took it out for a spin for about 20 minutes. Came back, turned it off and then there wasnt enough juice to start back up. Within a few attempts of cranking the battery was dead. I gave up since i was just home for the day. I went back home yesterday and was going to jump it to ride it to the place where I store it for winter, but had some more problems. I jumped it and let it run for about 15 minutes while still connected to the good battery. As soon as i unhooked the good battery, the bike stalled. The battery still should be good since its an 04 correct? I removed it last winter and kept it in my hosue where the cold would not affect it.....all of the levels are full on it.
Another question that might possibly be related to this....This past summer after I would go out for a ride on the bike there were several occasions where it would stall within the first 10 mintes of riding. It was the same feeling that you would get when you forget to turn the petcock on or run out of fuel. Sometimes it would fire back up and sometimes it would after it had sat for a few minutes. Please help!!! |

It is possible you drained the battery so far down that a quick charge on the system is not allowing for a complete refresh. I'd personally try a new battery myself. As for storing the battery over the winter, it's highly recommended to keep it hooked up to a battery tender. It will slowly keep a trickle charge on the battery if the levels drop while sitting. And yes, keeping it stored in warm temps will have much better effects on it vs. letting it sit out in the cold.
On the other hand to show this is not flawable, I had my bike sit all winter w/o removing the battery and it fired up this spring w/o having to jump it (cheap Wal-Mart battery).

That problem would not occur if the ground cable was loose. If you have a local battery shop near by, I'd talk to them about the cost of a trickle charger & also pull the battery out & have them load test it to see if it's shot or not.

Sounds to me like your gonna have to get another battery, I did this one day by leaving my headlights on at work for 8 hours. I jumped the bike, rode it for 25-30min and it still wouldnt turn over after I shut it off, I then let it run for another 20-30min and no luck, ended up throwing in a new battery and fired right up lol. Advance auto parts carries batteries, so does walmart, I ended up buying mine from Advance for like $25 and the thing works fine. I cant remember the brand but they make alot of other autoparts. Just be careful when you handle the acid.
