Hello guys.....
I was wondering how much PSI you use on your tires? My service manual says (zx-6r 636 '04) that i should put 42 for the rear tire and 36 for the front tire... i dont know, but i think 42 psi is way to much? I normally put 36 on the rear tire , and 34 on the front one.... please correct me if im wrong and crazy? |

what i was told on the msf course is that you should no longer use the service manuals specs for tire pressure, instead you should look on the tire itself, they all have a spec on there that that paticular tire should be run at.

Run what it says in the manual. if you're concerned about too much pressure, just check the sidewall, that is the Maximun pressure recommended by the tire manufacturer, not necessarily what you should run them at. You can add a few pounds to the manuals recommendations, especially if you ride in rain a lot as the extra pressure will help the tire from hydroplaning. Some cruiser guys run a few pounds more as well for increased mileage. But if you raise the pressure, you're giving up some handling. A harder tire won't have the same size footprint as one with a lower pressure, so you won't have as much traction leaned over with higher pressures than what you'd have with the recommended pressure. Here's a good article on tire pressures:
