Hello There, Im New(obviously) and ive just passed my test woohoo! Ive been riding for 2 years, 1 and half years on CBT to get some much needed EXP and cheap insurance ^_^ But no I want a new bike......Hello ZX-6R!
I love this bike! I really want a 05 model but alas...to expensive...Living in th UK things are more expensive...The Ninja ZX-6R retails for £5775(Ruffly) over here, For you in the states thats a Fairly heafty $9,500+OTR So im after a 2004 model as I love the body style on this bike! I can pick one up for £3500 (used) with 5000miles on the clock! Thing is insurance will be a killer.....I think! Im only 19, Turn 20 at the end of march...So will it be better to carry on riding my 125, which I honestly dont mind! Im asking this hopeing that another year on my life will decrease the insurance (by a lot I wished) ^_^ What are you guys paying?? If you dont mind sharing! Obviously if your aged 19-21 would be great! If not what other bikes are not so nasty for insurance....I like the (Dares not say it) CBR400/CBR600 or GSXR-600 but im not sure if the 400 could stand long journeys. as ill be doing lots of London to Birmingham trips! And every 600 I like has extreme insurance!!!! Thanks for help and go easy....Im new ^_^ |

hey there and welcome to the forums!
Im 21 had my license for about 1 month, and been riding for 1 week today! yay! I pay for comprehensive (theft and other stuff) and liability (minimum) $450 per year, I researched for a 2000 zx6 and I would have had to pay $1800 per year! (more than the bike I currently have) Hope this helps!... By the way how is the M4? is it still under construction? last thing I remember it was a mess! (I lived in south wales from 96 to 99 and took quite a few trips to london.)

Welcome! Where in the UK do you live? My sister lives in Shropshire.
We pay $500 for two bikes--my 2002 Vulcan 1500 and my husband's 2005 FJR 1300. Full coverage. Our insurance just went *down*, if you can believe that. We have no idea why. We're old (early 50s) and have clean driving records (thankfully, all our speeding tickets are in other states).

I'm 27 and just picked up an '06 ZX-6R. With Progressive, the company that insures my old bike, they quoted me roughly $3,000 for a year. I instead went with an agent from State Farm that does a lot of bikes, and will be paying $76 per month for full coverage with above average limits. Hope that helps some. I say shop around, and check with your bike shops to see who they recommend. Never know what you might find.

Ahh so much....cheap...insurance prices here haha ^_^ To answer some questions, The M4 Is done and dusted, Its still as busy as ever, not as bad as the M1 but still hectic, Heathrow Terminal 4 is well underway...it is massive! They have built 4lane motorways around it, in the states when I was in florida on holiday u had massive freeways, we usually have 3lanes on each side so seeing 4 lanes on each side was nerve racking haha! As it will be sooo busy!
Im practicly 20mins away from London! On a ZX-6R I could be there in 15mins ^_^ However if you ever come over stay away from Tottenham and Hackney.....if you love your bike and bring it over...dont go thier...Ive had one of mine end up thier and thats why my Inurance quotes seem to be so high! I know online quotes are stupid and extrmely inaccurate! But I mean theres 18year olds here driving round on Ducati Monsters and GSXR-1000's and I mean thats just stupid considering thier age and they pay £400-800 TPFT which is just a joke! Surely my ONE claim from 2004 cant be hiking the quotes up that much? Im deffinatly going to ring around lots of companys and just haggle like mad to get it under £1000....if I manage that I have promised to get myself a brand new 05 ZX6R...if not its an 03 for me...which I still love!! Thanks all |
