Default After long time in cold, bike won't start

Hey guys I decided to try to turn on my 05 636 for this upcoming sat but had no luck. The battery was out of juice so I pulled it out and charged it up again and installed it today. I tried turning it on and the engine just keeps trying to turn over but doesn't. I have a full charge now and the engine wants to turn on but it won't. Any ideas? The bike has been sitting in my cold garage without being moved for the last 2 months. T

Thanks guys!

You didn't set the fuel line to "off" before storing it by any chance?

Did you put fuel stabilizer in the tank? If not, the gas has probably gone bad from sitting, so that will cause problems. You may also have glazed your carbs with that bad gas. It's also possible that your battery has gone bad from the cold (especially if you didn't have a battery tender hooked up to it.) You may want to get a new battery. Also check your fuel switch setting to make sure it says "on", as suggested above.

Some bikes are also just plain cold blooded. Mine is a PITA to try to start in anything below about 45-50 degrees. Hope this helps. Good luck

The 636 is injected, so there won't be any carburator issues, and there's no fuel switch. I'd be surprised if the gas went bad in as little as two months when it was in a cool place, too, but I guess it's possible.

I think the battery might be worth checking out though. When my battery was going bad, it would sometimes also sound like it was turning over fine, but it didn't actually have enough juice to get it firing. If you have enough electrical power to light up your lights and run your fuel pump (if the bike's turning over, you do have enough power), try bump starting the bike and see what happens. If it starts, you can be pretty sure your battery is the problem. If it doesn't, well, then you can rule out the battery and starter as possible problems.

Also, double check your kill switch, sidestand and, if it's cold, turn up the enrichener.

thanks for the replies
I don't think it's the battery because it took a full charge and tried to start the bike just fine, what is the enrichnerer and where on my bike is it? Are you talking about the choke? cause my bike doesn't have one. ill try new fuel to see if that works if not ill check back here.

I had the same problem, but mine only sat for about 3 weeks. Turns out i only had about a gallon of gas and it had started to go bad. I just kept trying to start it and shook up the gas inside the tank until she finally started. I also had to give it a little throttle to get it started. Went straight to the gas station and haven't had a problem since.
