Default 2004 Ninja 250 won't idle...it's new, any suggestions?

Right after the purchase I became very busy and let it sit for 2 months in my garage. When I went to start it up it worked fine...but it won't idle. I am able to get the choke very close to being closed, but not all the way.

This bike has 1 mile on it, it's new, should this have happened after sitting for only two months? Any suggestions on a fix? Can this be covered on the warranty?(which ends 08/06)

I had a similar problem with my 250, there was actual moisture in the oil that was making it very difficult to come off choke. The best thing I can tell you is put the bike on its centerstand, give it full choke and let it run for a few minutes, then reduce the choke so that the bike is revving around 2500, then leave it like that till the rear wheel stops spinning. Once thats done you should be able to run with no choke. If it still cant, you may need to have the idle adjusted. The 250 is EXTREMEMLY cold blooded.

bike sitting = bad = clogged pilot jet.

Seconded! I had to have my jet's blown out when I bought mine, since it had been sitting for a couple of months in my Dad's Garage.

They cleaned em up, and blew all the crud out of the jets, then set em to factory spec.
They also gave the bike a thorough inspection for anything that seemed out of the ordinary, all for only $90.
Seemed reasonable to me.

Thanks everyone. I took it to a kawasaki dealer and got the carbs cleaned out. Total cost=180 I won't let this baby sit without stabilizer again.
