Default Weird fuel problem with 87 ninja 600RX

Hey everyone..i got an 87 Ninja 600RX...carbs needed cleaning so i di it throughly before starting to ride couple weeks ago..I hasbeen running great for past ~300 miles..but just started having a problem that even the bike Here are the symptoms: when riding at a constant high speed (50+ mph), for more than 10 minutes the bike starts to feel like it's running out of gas...the throttle becomes unresponsive, there's even a bit of sputtering, and then within about 30 seconds it stalls completely. I have to pull over, wait a few minutes and then use the choke to start it up again (even though it's still warmed up). It seems like it's not getting enough gas...i can monitor this real time by looking at the transparent fuel hose that fuel just runs out in it eventhough tank is full..i have checked the fuel lines, but nothing's being pinched. when i free the fuel hose from carbs, fuel would just goash from the tank so it seems like carbs not sucking the fuel.. The bike also tends to run fairly hot when this is happening. i just did it couple weeks ago but heck with it i think i am gonna take the carbs apart to see what is the deal in them ..Any suggestions? Thanks!!!

hey i havent seen to many people with the rx. im about an hour away from mine hittin the road for the first time in three years. mine would run good for a short time then go all to hell. i had a piece of rust from the gas tank in the float seat. check those and the filter screen in the tank. it should be pullin vaccum but you could switch a vaccum line but im sure they are all connected in there. welcome to the forum and good luck.

next time it does that, try opening the fuel cap. if it starts right up and runs fine again for a while your vent is cloged.

Good point zed. The vents for that tank may be just forward of the seat.
I don't think its in the carbs as the condition you describe is fuel starvation.
I would rebuild the fueltap. My 84 did this the first few weeks of ownership. The diaphram is known to stick cutting off fuel flow. After you stall and sit for a minute it unseats itself and the bike will fire up. You can also set the tap to prime and bypass the vacuum on the tap. Or rebuild the tap. Also, behind the 6mm fitting on the tap that the vac. line connects to sits a small check ball. It is known to get stuck and prevent vac. from unseating the diaphram and allow fuel to flow.

Read this link, life will be great afterwards. Pics. and details.

thank you so much guys for your input..i had already tried to ride the bike with tank lid open and recondition my tab also..they had not resolved my problem before posting my problem.. so the same day i posted my problem i took the carbs apart...i found some very fine rust particles in gas dish right under main jets..they ver not much actually and jets seemed not clogged..i cleaned them..put it together..i also increased my idle...seemed to elimininate the problem..but unfortunately i messed up my carb synched in the process which i later realized.. which gave me heck of a problem on the road.. after finding out i adjusted by eye..it seems to work fine now...i ll change my spark plugs and clutch then i ll feel better.. my clutch is right at the very end ouf adjustments end slipping badly if i wanna hot ride...I ll probably get something younger after getting more experience on this..But I love it...it is so much fun to ride this bike...
