    Default '05 ZX6RR Question

Hey Guy, first post here (noob). Quick question about me possibly buying a 05 ZX6rr. This would be my third bike (used to own a '03 and '05 gsxr 600's). Now I just want to mainly ride on the track. I can by the Zx6rr from a guy for about $6200. Here's the big problem, the bike has almost 14k miles on it already (mostly canyon riding). I just can't spend this kind of money and take it to the track and worry about durability issues. For around the same price i can go buy a '05 CBR 600rr less miles and wear. So what do you guys think? Btw i am have been to the track before so nothing new and have been riding for over two years now. Again just concerned about the price and durability. Thanks.

    Brad

Stick with the Kawi...Top 15 fastest stock bikes ever made. Reliability is up to how it is kept up...Just like cars. But here is the bottom line...It's up to you.

Thanks for the reply. The bike was maintaned very well but again at what point do i need a new clutch, maybe cam chains or anything else. Your are correct as far as the two bikes (zx6rr and cbr600rr) I will probably never realize the full potential of either so its up to me. Just wanted to get an idea of kawasaki reliability because i have heard stories of that being a weakness especially compared to a Honda and since i will be going to many track days thats a big issue for me. Not concerned with handling/braking right now I am sure they are pretty close, just reliability (motor wise) for this price.

dude its a inline four. these bikes will go forever and ever if properly MAINTAINED. I have 14,500 miles and ZERO problems on my 2003 ZX6R 636. All ive done is normal stuff , Yesterday i changed the brakes front and rear , front and rear sprockets , flushed the coolant , changed the oil (i change it every 1500 miles) ,adjusted the valves , and threw new tires on it. Im good till 35,000 miles. Then ill probably change out the water pump and cam chain. You just got to take care of them and maintain them , dont let the maintence go. They can see 100k+ of you take care of them .
