the jumper mod disables a flapper valve in the exhaust. it makes the bike a bit louder but it allows it to breathe better. And yeah - it works on the new ZX6s - ie the real 600cc bikes not the fake ones.

Adding the jumper causes the ECU to disable the flapper valve and switch to the euro spec maps for fuel and timing. The net result is like 5hp. when I was looking at buying an 08 ZX6 this was at the top of my list for To-do's. Probably would have done it as soon as I got the bike in my garage.

As it it....I got something a bit bigger that doesnt require a jumper mod for an extra 5hp. But it isnt a real 600cc bike either.

from what i understand there are no ill effects. there are 03-06 owners who have been using the jumper mod since they got their bike and theyre still running.
all it does is change the maps in the ECU and mess with the valve in the exhaust. the bike is the same as others in the world, but we got a toned down map to comply with regulations (noise and emissions). you do the jumper the ECU is the same as others in the world. Kawi did it to keep from having to make 2 or 3 different ECUs...just make one and jumper it for places that dont have the regulations we do.

ive done it to mine and the bike seems to run a bit smoother. from what i understand theyre running a bit lean for our emissions...with the jumper youre going to use a little more gas but have better performance (and possibly better reliability...running lean is bad, mmmkay?)

so if Kawi does it, why shouldnt you?

i got a spool of 18 gauge solid wire from Radio Shack...5 bucks or so and i have a huge spool! overkill maybe, but they didnt have any jumpers, and the packs of 100 or so jumpers is like 6 bucks...so i just made my own!

its easy really...you can use an insulated paper clip too, but i decided to go with real wire. just cut a length about an inch long, strip the ends, put it into the connector with the Black/Yellow wire and the one across from it. cap it and go! taking the seat off takes more time, seriously

So, with a full aftermarket exhaust and a PC-III there's no reason to do this?

hey guy new to the forum. i just got the bike and i had to go green since i raced 12 year for them on the dirtbikes. i had the same problem, my buddies 05 cbr 600 smoked me the first time we threw down . i notice the motor was rather weak on the zx. When i raced motorcross, the kx was the sh!t on the track, needless to say i was rather disapointed with the zx. Does anyone have pics of the jumper mod process. also are there any other mods that can be done relatively inexpensively.
thanks
john

Jumper Mod How-To

this is for the older 636, but its exactly the same on the 07-08 bikes. same color wires and everything. all you really need to know is jump the black/gold wire to the one diagonal from it (should be an aqua/green wire).

wow,
tested the bike today really felt the difference. seems to have smoothed out the bike a bit. pulls well after 13k, noticed it getting on the interstate in 2nd at 14k. any suggestion on how to improve that weak low end.
