He's too manly. Obviously, you can't talk to him.

What would he have done if he had been really hurt? It's obvious to me that he wasn't thinking things through. He's not in a career where he can take chances like this.

I have no sympathy for him, I have very little respect for riders who purposely ride without a helmet. Especially someone of his social status, he should be setting an example. It's because of that type of thing that guys my age (hell even older guys) think they are "pussies" if they wear gear to go riding and they end up dieing because of it.

I also think it was irresponsible to the team. He won a superbowl last year... he knows how important his role is on the football team and he's taking unnecessary risks like that? Some teammate

I do feel bad for him though and certainly wouldn't wish what happened on him or any other rider but maybe he's learned his lesson now.

"What a douche"

From what I hear he really is. I know some people who have met him 3 girls and a guy who all said he was an *******. One saw him at the airport and asked for his autograph and he asked her to flash him for it...lets just say she didn't get his autograph.

Then, an older buddy of mine from work went to one of the games. It was just a pre-season thing I think. Anyway, he took his 5 year old son who just thought Ben was the greatest...sits on the side waiting as ben comes down the side giving autographs. Gets to my buddies son and won't sign what he brought to autograph. I think it was a terrible towel or a shirt but I'm not sure, but for w/e reason he wouldn't sign this 5 year old kids item. The kids in tears and he just continues down the line. I can understand a policy about signing certain objects but jeez the kids 5 years old and these are the people kids look up to, I'm sure it wouldn't have been too much trouble to sign something of his. I've seen other players do it, especially for kids. I would just say he's a busy guy and didn't have time or w/e but four people I know personally saying the same thing about him on four different occasions...I don't think it's a coincidence.

BTW I think this is in the wrong forum =P

I'm serious about my signature. I see people on all types of bike without gear. Bad Sh!t happens all the time. You can slip, fall and die in your bathtub. Eat some bad chicken and wind up in the hospital. Why ride w/o some gear? Besides, have you seen those videos of people dancing in their gear? How cool is that? :*)

Cool

After I heard it on ESPN radio I was just waiting for these posts. it was another insult to us all that the one dumb @$$ with more money than he needs and less brains to appreciate it get all the press. I don't always wear all my stuff but it's few and far between, and I know I'm taking a big chance when I do, and am very conservative. Lets see what his attitude will be after this.

I have no pity on him and it serves him right for more of the hurt he got...If he wore gear he might have been able to be a tad bit better than he turned out. Idiot is what he is...No doubt in that.

I am surprised he doesnt have a clause in his contract about "dangerous activities."

+1 jimmyh. We used to have NFL player visits at Marcus Dairy all the time. I knew Jumbo Elliott of the Jets was a competent rider. No riding due to that very same clause.

He does, but just doesn't care. Great example to set, huh?

Respectfully, a young father who goes to work every day to feed his middle class family is a lot more important and relatable to me. None of us are in a career where we can take chances like that. So some super-rich, athlete risks missing a few games. Yawn. Sadder to me is someone who might lose their house because their daddy didn't wear a helmet. Face it, even if Ben were to never play again, his financial outlook would still be better than yours and mine.

And isn't the Kawasaki ZX-14 the "fastest street legal motorcycle" you can buy? I guess frakking up basic facts like that to editorialize a misguided point is why that guy's still writing in Fort Wayne.

Amen to that, or even their daddy!!! I hate to see anyone get seriously hurt because they won't protect themselves. Especially if there are others who will get hurt too.
