Default 06 636 taillight problem

I just installed a clear alternatives integrated tail light (pics soon) and the turn signals work fine and the brake light works fine. They even work together like they are suppose to, but the running light does not work. I mean when my bike is on the tail light does not light up until I hit the brakes. Is this normal? I just wasnt sure if it was suppose to work or not.

make sure the plug is all the way on...its a really tight fit, and it took me a couple times to get it on right. sometimes the pins didnt line up right. just pull it off and try it again

I had to return my tail light once because the pins were not long enough to make the connection and the light would go on and off when I was riding.

Thanks I will try and might give clear alternatives a call. The plug was very tight and I had to use the ground to get it on as far as I did.

when you pull it back off, take a look at the pins...they might have bent a bit so instead of going into the slots, they are going over them

I had the same problem with mine. The pins didnt line up well and got bent at first. I was able to straighten them out with needlenose plyers. It was a royal pain to get on because the plug is so tight, so I lubed it up to get it on all the way.

Some lithium grease isn't a bad idea just to keep water out. When I compared the clear alternatives workmanship looked shotty to the stock light, but it is 1000X cooler looking on the bike!

I have had mine for close to a year and a half, plug is really tight but have not had any problems with the lights not working. The problem that I have had was the glue failed to keep the lens attached to the light housing. So I had to remove the tail section and super glue the lens back on. So with after market exhaust plan on having to glue your stuff back together due to the heat of the exhaust.
