Default Flush mount/Integrated Turn Signals

I was looking into purchasing a new tail light with the integrated turn signals for a 2006 Kawasaki ZX6R 636. What do I do with the stock rear turn signals? There is molding attached with them, does all of that come off, or is there something like a plate to put in place of the existing signals? Thanks for your help.

It's a great look - check your local laws in case there is a minimum distance required between the turn signals. If there is, then it's your call.

Yes, definitely check the laws...Apparently I was told my front signals are not legal. Heck if I got pulled over, there would be other stuff not legal. Thankfully lots of riders here and it seems certain things are not enforced, however, I do have a friend who was pulled over for his exhaust.

+1 on ervins' comment; when I picked up some front flush mounts yesterday I noticed that the back of the package said (and I'm reading it right now):

WARNING
1)These are NOT turn signals and are not to be used where DOT is required.
2) Single Filament (2 wire marker lights) are not to be used as running lights.

I asked the salesman what the hell that was all about and he said that replacing anything that's DOT approved is illegal...but LEO's typically won't pull you over for that infraction only--you definitely gotta be doing something else before they pull you over (i.e. going 80 in a 35 zone or pulling a qtr. mile wheelie or ______<----insert anything stupid that squids do).

But some of the mods out there are so awesome that it's worth the small risk of a fix-it ticket.

True unless you are doing some crazy hanging on public streets or stunting on them, no one will question the jewelry we put on our bikes. I admit almost everything is jewelry for the bike if anything. As heinous as the stock blinkers are, aftermarket ones are soooo much better looking.

It definitely took a steady hand to make the cutouts. I marked and taped off the openings (important since I dont have any trim around it and didnt want to chip the paint) Then I used a dremel with a cutoff wheel to make the cuts.
Wasnt too too bad. It looks a little ragged if you look at it from two feet away. But who puts their head that close to look at a bike?

Thanks,

I will try and get some day pics, I got the lights off the internet. Do a google on LED flush mount truck lights and you can find a lot of them.

I like them because it is a nice streamlined look to match the front, and it looks oem. I actually wanted use bigger ones, but there isnt much room inside for the cutout.
