Default Is there a better site for the older ninjas?

I don't mean to sound ungrateful for this site since it has a wealth of knowledge about a wide range of kawasaki products, but it is mostly geared toward newer bikes. I know there are a few older kawis on here, but the site predominantly caters to the newer crowd. The mix of sport bikes and cruisers doesn't help matters either. I have an 89 600c ninja. It's close to impossible for me to search for specifics about troubleshooting my bike when things go wrong, as they often do. I have to read for an hour to find a thread that is even ABOUT what I am searching for. So my question is, are there any better sites out there that would be more specific to my bike?

Did you post or find any information under the "Vintage" section of this forum?

replied to your thread. you usually dont need to have a specific bike forum. as long as its not fuel injected if it has two wheels and carbs its pretty much universal for the most part... more of matter of sparking an interest to help, a lot of people will only look at it if their bike is involved but actually have the knowledge to remedy the problem.

Kev,
Not sure what your problem is (yet). I'll have to re-read your post.

As for having little support, or this forum (or any others for that matter) being geared to newer bikes, unfortunately you'll just have to get used to it. It's not a problem with this site, that site, or even the internet. You just have a 17 year old bike. Most people nowadays don't keep bikes for more than 5 years or so. Not to mention that a lot of the older bikes have just disapeared into history. There are still some out there, but sportbikes seem to have the shortest lifespan. So many of them have been trashed or forgotten about, that finding info can be tough. Older cruisers and touring bikes tend to be more prevelent simply because of them were ridden more sedately.

As others said, unless you need bike specific info or parts, you can usually find the general mechanical info you need. Sometimes it just takes some digging.

And just to answer your question, no, I know of no site dedicated to older Ninjas specifically. Wish I did. Sometimes I have problems finding info for my 90 ZX-10.

This site is pretty good, but you can also try http://www.esportbike.com/. Go to the eSportbike forums (not the Sportbikeworld forums - good, but a differant crowd) Same kind of family personality, but it's a much bigger forum, so you may find answers there that you might not find here (and vice-versa)

I'm 100% with you kev!!!!

I too really like this place BTK... but there is NOTHING more valuable then having a VECHILE SPECIFIC forum. I have one for my civic and my old 87 Chevy S-10. And let me tell you, the benefit and value that those two forums are are well worth the $15 a month for internet service I pay! I try to do all my repairs myself, and they are just absolutely fantastic.

I just got an old EX500 ninja and there is a site for that bike (www.ex500riders.com), but it having a lot of problems. And being right in the middle of trying to fix my bike, it has really gotten to me!! I really wish that site was up and running!

Thanks for the replies guys. It wasn't my intention to thrash the helpfulness of this site in the least. I was just looking for my bike specific info. I'm with you, 4Jack, on vehicle specific sites. I own a 1988 thunderbird turbo coupe which has it's dedicated site www.turbotbird.com , and those guys know more about the turbo coupe than the guys that designed it. That's kinda what I was looking for with my old ninja. I'll keep digging in the search engine here and see if I can learn more. Thanks again for the replies.

of Course they do.... IT'S A FORD!!

lol... I'm just kidding...

It's also just a cool thing to associate with people who have the exact same thing, you already have something in common, ya know.. generally those forums are great socially with little to no drama.
