Well I went out and started up my bike today since it had been about 2-3 weeks since I last rode. Once it started heating up a little I noticed some smoke coming from below the oil cap. I turned off the bike and started looking underneath. My fairing is melted where the exhaust is!!!! I installed a Kerker 2 into 1 exhaust a couple of months ago and the heat from the exhaust has melted the faring. The fairing has some type of heat shield installed from the factory but I guess that isn't good enough with the new exhaust. Guess I will have to take it off and cut some of the fairing away that is melted. Looks like it won't be too noticeable. It is mainly on the bottom of the fairing.
Does anyone else have a Kerker exhaust on their 250? If so, have you had any problems with the fairing melting? Thanks, Ben |
