Default New 05 636 Owner - Need Help On Looking For Mods

Alright... This is possibly the 3rd bike i've owned so far. And every bike i've owned i've always modded it up to the best of my ability (financially and skill-wise).

So it's only natural that when i picked up the 636... i'd be modding the crap out of it.

Well this time it was different. I picked up a used 636 because quite honestly i'd rather own a 05/06 636 than one of the ugly 07 Kawi's. (No offense to you 07 Kawi owners but i'd rather be riding old school honda, yamahas, and suzukis than one of those.)

But yeah since it was a used, the bike already came with the following mods:

-Arata full system
-Galfer Wave rotors
-Brembos
-Vortex Rearsets
-Chain Conversion

So it's kind of weird now because i have almost a fully modded up bike without ever having to do anything at all (except pay some cash).

I've always enjoyed incorporating my own style into my bikes and as i've been having a bit of issue working with the search button on this site, i was hoping you fellow 636 owners could lend a hand in searching for these mods i so desire and possibly answering some questions i had concerning the bike itself.

1. Fender Eliminator - what kits are popular? I know for other bikes you can just go to home depot and pick up some L brackets to make your own fender eliminator kit. So i wanna know if it would be possible to do that on the Kawi or if it isn't, what kits would you guys recommend?

2. Exhaust - I saw someone on a 06 636 with a side exit pipe. Does anyone know who or what this exhaust is? I loved the sound of the side exit exhaust and i know it might be loud as hell but thats the way i like it.

3. HID's - What bulb size does the bike use?

4. Signals - I read on ebay somewhere that the Euro turn signals were NOT DOT approved. So should i stick with the ugly signals or just go with the EURO's? (The euro flushmounts do look good though. ^_^ )

Btw. If i find another exhaust i like, i will be parting out my full system arata. This thing is mint but i just don't like it because it's not as loud as i want it to be. Let me know if any of you guys are interested. You can reach me at cillywilly87@hotmail.com.

Thanks! Looking forward to many more posts on this site. =)

Suspension, power commander, frame sliders

I think a lot of people made their own fender eliminator. I did

Why get a new exhaust? Arata is a great exhaust and will give you a lot of good results hp/trq wise. Do you have any pics of it?

I have the "euro" signals on mine and have never had any problems with law officials. Seems to be as long as they blink and as long as you can see em there fine.

Oh woops. Guess i forgot to post those mods too. Yeah the bike already has some sliders and i'm kinda skipping out on the PC because i want to change exhausts. The suspension was done professionally for me already. (seller was about the same size as me..lucky me)

I've personally heard good things about the arata (and damn they're expensive) but i'm just not a racer. I don't need the exhausts to be X lbs lighter or provide X amount more power. If i really wanted the bike to go faster, i'd go running and lose some weight (it'd be healthy and save me some $$ anyways).

So i'm switching it because I ride street 99% of the time, so i want an exhaust that looks good, and more importantly...LOUD. I LOVE loud exhausts. The Arata accomplishes neither of these for me.... and as i know these demands of mine are silly... iuno, i'm just not feeling the arata, lol.

I dont have pictures of it the bike or the exhaust as it's chilling at my cousin's place. My garage is currently in a mess as i've been working hard trying to fix my friend's 600rr for him. I'll try to snap some pictures of the bike next time with the Arata.

Congrats...636s are great bikes! I had a 2003 636...

For tail tidy you can get R&G or what I had on my CBR which was super sleek...It was Greggs Customs...It was pricey but freaking awesome looking. For exhaust, it is up to you...There are a ton out there...Undertail is nice but I like highmounts...On my ZX-1Or...ZThey are sorta side/ under...Akra is nice. If you really like it loud, just chop it. Not sure on the HID...Was going to do it but never did on any bike...Looks cool but there are some other upgrades I would rather have. Flush mounts are always nice...But not a must. I never had stock blinkers. If you want some real mods, do your suspension...It is night and day when you do.

Thanks for the recommendations but i think i'll try to make my own FE kit mainly because i wanna save some money..haha.

I know i can chop the exhaust but i still dont like how the ARata looks like. I really like how the Two Bros looks like with the dual exhaust so i might get something like that.

And as of yesterday night, i've ordered some euro flushmounts and integrated tail light. Been also looking into getting some pig spotter mirrors as i feel they really flow with the bike.

Any help on the Bulb sizes of these bikes would be great! thanks

Fender eliminator, make your own, there's three bolts underneth your seat. Fabricate a braket to hold your plate. Easy and my bro made it for $5 instead of $100.

I've got HID from on my 06 zx6r...but I don't recommend them if you're not going to put projectors in them. The reflectors suck! You'll get this small box from the the low beam, and if you turn on the high beam everyone is blinded and flashes you....plus they will blow your 10amp stock fuse, using a higher rated fuse is dangerous becuase it's a fire hazard. your call though.

I've also got the none DOT approved signals....payed about $200 fine for having them....stick with the stock or get some shorter side signals.

Send me Pm on what you want for the exhaust. I've got a friend with a 05 zx6r looking for a pipe.

There's no need for the jumper mod....aftermarket pipe means no power valve anyways...

Hes not talkin about the valve, hes talkin about the actual wire that basically tricks the ecu into thinking its a euro one. And yes that is a good mod

yeah i'll probably do this mod when i have the time. I gotta help my friend rebuild his 600rr, lol.

I did some research on it already and it seems that the jumper mod only gives you more power up top.

Wait a minute... You are wanting a two bros slip on. ( the most over priced slip on with the worst performance reviews ) when you already have a full Arata system on there..? Are you serious.? you will lose power... Do you know about re mapping .?

Mod the can some ... take some packing out or something.. If you want it loud. Arata systems are big bucks if it is a full system.. They're top notch.

Full system and a custom PC map or Kit ECU will rock the best results..

If you do sell it, and get a stock header set back on, so you can put a slip on pipe. let me know I want it..

lol email me if you're really interested at cillywilly87@hotmail.com

I am dead serious. I am looking for a slip on. I dont need a top notch arata full system. I'm not going to be doing any racing.

Besides, i'd rather get something cheaper because i know when i sell this bike out again, the arata isnt going to add too much value. And knowing myself, i will probably get bored soon when im done with the mods and start to want to change bikes. So i might as well part it out now.

Yes I know...what the jumper mod does is prevent the power valve slamming shut at 13,000rpm. That's what the the ecu is tricked into doing. Since Canada and American have noise restrictions, the power valve closes at high rpm...the euros don't. Btw power gains are only 1 hp...please don't make me sound like an idiot when I clearly know what the jumper mod does...and once again, since he's got an aftermarket pipe, there's no need for the jumper mod becuase the pipe doesn't have a power valve anyways....

Since you have the old 03-04 zx6r, I don't expect you to know what what it does anyways.

Not trying to get into a ****ing match here.. Sorry if you are a wee bit upset.. ( sounds like you are sucked up cause you were wrong.?) lol

I know a lot about the 05 06 bikes so don't underestimate someones knowledge
man..

You still gain power from the Jumper with a full system.. Do a search it helps..

Seems to always be a confusion about that. But I'm not going to waist my breath explaining it to you since you're last three post are arrogant and "I know everything" attitude.
