Default Cant adjust idle

The issue I had before is that the bike wouldnt run with the choke off, they guy I bought the bike from told me the carbs needed cleaning and from what ive read on this forum, that seemed to be the first thing people recommended be done. So, I took the carbs off, cleaned them, got the bike to run with choke off, but I cant get the idle to adjust. I turn the little black knob that runs along the bottom of the carb, which from what I understand from the forum, is the idle adjustment knob, but nothing happens, the idle doesnt fluctuate at all, and it idles around 4-5k even with choke off. Im a little confused.

Is it the idle adjuster attached? I once was helping a guy with a similar issue, turns out his adjuster had come loose.

After you take the carbs out and clean them you need to do a carb sync.

And the carbs probably are not clean enough. If you do it correctly should take a long time, not 30 minutes.

Uh, I dont recall saying it took 30 minutes, and my main problem was that the jets were clogged, I took the jets out and cleaned them, and they looked fine afterwards, as did the rest of the carb assembly.

Cleaned the carbs and still having trouble...

Next think I might look at is the choke cable. Long shot, but worth a look. Is the lever properly engaging/disengaging it? Two things after that might be idle mixture (did you mess with this?) or check the valve clearances. You might want to give the folks at ninja250.com at stab at it since there are a bunch of guys who have been wrenching on these things for years.

Yeah, the choke lever is working properly, I checked when I connected the cable back to the carb itself. I didnt mess with the idle mixture screws.

Maybe the idle mixture screws were messed with, prior to taking the carbs apart, you never say you checked the sync of the carbs, which need to be done after reassembling. What happens if you close off the idle screw by turning it in all the way? Does the bike shut down?
