Howdy. I have a 1998 superhawk that has been poke'd to 1243 cc's. It has extensive port work, and the flywheels have been lightened and balanced to 14k rpm's. There are a host of other mods but I'll save that for another day. It is the most fun bike that I've ever owned. I've only done it once, to see how fast it could go, during VERY light traffic on the interstate. I run EMS so I have personally seen the aftermath of bike wrecks at speed. They are never pretty. And get messier the faster that you go. My superhawk reads 185 at about the 4 o'clock on the speedo, and I had her wound straight down. It took some time to come back to the 185 mark. I have been riding for years and If I were to guess. I would say somewhere around 210-220. I like 0-100 quick and the twisties. It takes talent to make your chicken strips more narrow. Any fool can twist the throttle and hang on. I would not judge anyone for going fast from time to time. But a lot of young riders learn too late that, you can crank on it from time to time, but if you crank on it all the time it'll crank back. Ride within your limits. Have as much fun as you can get away with. But most of all just enjoy the ride.

on my 97 ZX6e stock i did about 140 on I-45 at night and it felt too easy to go that fast for me. I never got home so fast before and probably never will again. Now the wheeli bug bit me so Im learning how to get that front tire up now.

Default Flapping eyelids

All I know is I had a friend that had his triumph 750 souped up and I went for a ride, me on the back, sandals, t-shirt and no helmet or glasses, and yes very young and stupid.

When I opened my eyes my eyelids vibrated or flapped so violently that I couldn't see. Don't know how fast but too fast without some protection from my youth.

At the end of the straight on Monterrey´s Mexico race track, my ex HONDA VTR RC 51 2001 with 2002 engine (SPII) would show 178 mph (285 kms)... then I would have to pull the brakes with all my strength, throw the anchor, and scream like a little girl... Then I got better on it... the screaming part of course. Now my 08 ZX10R just seems to handle this speed much easier... I still scream like a little girl. But I´m working to be a little more mature and enjoy the ride, not the speed.

Again, back in the day. 122 mph on a '72 Norton commando. Since it was unfaired, the wind pressure was really surprising and 'exciting'. No real desire to peak 100 these days.

First street bike, Kaw SR650 115 MPH was all it had so it had to go, traded in for 78 KZ1000 Z1T Turbo, had it going 144 twice, that was as fast as I wanted to go, Dealer claimed it did 152 MPH at a dealer meet on Bonneyville salt flats when new. 86 ZX1000 135 MPH, had more to go, just not with me that day. Current ride, 99 ZG1000 Concours 125 MPH so far...

The land speed record for motorcycles is 360mph on the Bonneville salt flats BTW. You beat it by 164mph and nobody knows about it? This thread really is sad, but amusing sometimes.

On a private road of course, glanced down and saw the needle go past 270 kph (168.75 mph) speedo indicated in full tuck, still accelerating and let off a few seconds later as my coat was balooned up like a parachute and starting to choke me. Didn't see what speed was registered before I rolled out. '02 ZX9-R in Sept '08.
