Dude, 32 degrees, that is crazy. Below around 50 would be my cutoff. Luckily we will have lots of 50 days here. I'm sure my bike will be sleeping a lot in January-February.

Been a lot of 35-40 days here. Went out Sunday since it looked nice. I think it was 38F. No wind so it made it better. Put on a good ski jacket, and thermal underware. Not a problem. Had a great ride. Now if wind was kicking up though I don't think it would be enjoyable. Below 35 I doubt I'll ride but we'll see.

Sunday was really nice out and I was almost tricked into riding into westfield for something I had to grab until I look at the thermometer. It was mid 30's up here and roads were a little wet.
So I finally gave up today and put all my bikes in my basement. Colder than usual november they say not looking good for a mild winter.

So I guess you just answered your own question...LOL

I haven't riden in 4 days and I'm going out of my mind. Not to mention spending a lot more money on gas in the Jeep. It's been in the 30's and raining here, and the streets are covered in leaves. I don't ride in those conditions. I think I'm going to give it another week, and the bike is going in the trailer with the battery tender on. I don't "winterize" it, due to the chance that it could be in the 60's on a rare day in Dec/Jan/Feb. I'm trying to ride at least one day each month in the winter, just so I can say I rode year 'round.

I love to ride when it's in the 50's. You can wear the gear, and the bike loves to suck up that cool air.

That's right you're up in the Blanford area. It would be cooler. Didn't really check the temps when I left Sunday around 10 a.m. I know it was cold but not sure exactly how cold. Rode up to Granby and Belchertown area. Not bad. Today was nice but had to work. Looking at 50 tomorrow (rain blah and 54 for Turkey day. Calling for mid 40's Fri. Sat. Sun. I plan to ride those 3 days. hard to know what to do. Mine is garaged so I can keep it ready just in case.
Come spring will head up your way for sure. We can hook up and do some of the roads there. If ya don't mind riding with a cruiser guy. LOL

ha ha, yup! I think lower-mid 50s is my limit. But definitely better than 90s. It sucks when it's hot out. I am an even bigger wimp when it's hot out because I won't go out without all my gear.

I grew up in NYC so I used to be ok in the cold. When I first moved to Charlotte, I would go out in 35-40 degree weather with just a light jacket. Now I guess my blood has thinned b/c I can't do that anymore. And, why is it that the exhaust from the bike is so damn hot in the summer but it does nothing to keep you warm in the winter?

LoL...my undertail exhaust used to keep my butt pretty warm after a while when the bike was all warmed up...but haven't had the experience with any of the side-mounted exhausts.

I guess it's not quite the exhaust but some air that "exhausts" out some holes by my thighs. It almost burns my legs in the summer.

That 650 have the exhaust underneath so you don't need to worry about heat from it!

One other side benefit....do you ever have problems with where to put your helmet when you stop? I now hang mine from the rear footrest. No exhaust in the way!

it's the air from the radiator... when it's cold out, the thermostat doesn't open nearly as much, so there's no where near as much heat in the radiator itself.

ja. might be that on the cruiser your speed wont pass enought speed to get freeze, on a superbike speed is a cold knife. Even do. i ride no matter what. just a good jacket and thas all. And also on a cruiser most owners Have to ride it .. on a superbike you ride just when you want.

It was 38 degrees when I headed out to run errands today. In the 3-4 hours I was out riding it did warm up to 44 degrees. I loved every minute of it and thanks to some thermal undies, a good leather jacket, winter socks, and full face helmet I was not uncomfortable at all. I love that feeling when you first get home out of the cold.

Yeah, I know that feeling...I'm ready to ride again. I miss it already. Going without a bike has got to be the WORST feeling every...and I've gone through back surgery recently, so I know when things are bad. LoL. But I plan on getting a decent pair of winter riding gloves so I don't freeze my hands off. That's the only thing I need for my winter riding gear.

So it lets it out through those little holes to burn my legs. WTF? But, like I said, when it's cold, then I get no warm air.

I ride 41 miles each way to work if it's dry and above 28 degrees, which is about 9 months a year here in PA. It all depends on why you I think, for me it's the mileage.
