Default '97 Fork Seal and Oil change???

I am about to change my front fork seals because they are leaking, and I can't find anywhere that tells me what kind of front fork oil i need

I would like to know what kind of front fork oil my '97 EX500 uses and about how much i need to put in it.... Thx

and also any suggestions will be appreciated...THX

I don't know about amount, but the service guys at your local should should be able to tell you, or a good service manual. As for type, they do make fork oil and probably a 10 weight will work. that's what I put in my vulcan. again, probably the service guys would be best to recommend.

Maybe someone on here has better specifics for you.

Your repair manual does. If it doesn't, I wouldn't replace your fork seals according to its directions...

thx, i just returned from the shop...they suggested 20w fork oil, but thx for the info .... i guess i didn't look hard enough in my service manual, lol

That bike probably has motor oil in it from factory, mine did as well and I put new seals in it and put fork oil in it instead and it didnt make that much of a difference but the ride was a bit smoother than before. You could get away with using either or as long as it is the proper weight

I just pick up a bottle of Screaming Eagle Heavy off my bench....
Actually my 750F DOES have Sportster seals......

I work in an HD shop.
