Default '07 Z1000 Puig Racing Screen

In case any of you are wondering what it looks like, here's the racing screen mounted on my bike. I installed it during my lunch break here at work so I don't know how much extra wind protection it provides when riding:

That looks great! Should help out better than the OEM one. Very nice. I must say, your bike is starting to look stellar man. Nice touches...Anyone who does not try and make their bike "mine" should take cues from your right now. Functional but aesthetically pleasing is what the thought process should be.

    Well done!

Got the same one on mine, except for the dark smoke. That clear edging that goes across the top of the screen does wonders. Trying to save up enough for the hugger and belly pan I want from Skidmarks. Also looking into pipes. Saw some I like, by Pipemasters in Australia, but I only see them for the 06 and older model. They look like the ones on my old CB750.

Thanks for the compliments everyone. I only rode from work to the shop yesterday so I didn't get to ride it for too long. I did get up to 95 mph for a short while though and the effect was "interesting". Usually I feel a "wall of air" when I hit 80 mph with the OEM shield and with the Puig, at 95 mph I only felt the air blast at my neck/head area. It was kind of weird to feel my head getting shoved back instead of my whole upper body. Cruising between 70 to 80 was great though, complete protection from what i could tell.

jbsmd: Yeah, I forgot to take that stripping with me during lunch. A rider from a Z1 forum suggested that I boil the stripping in water before I slip it on...that's great advice because when I tried to slip it on after opening the packaging, that cr@p did not want to go on.

stefano: Yeah, I think that I've gone a little overboard with the mods but I should be done by tonight. I think that the shop will be done installing my Galfer stainless steel brake lines for the front and rear. I dropped the bike off last night because I noticed a weird vibration/sound starting up so I decided to have them fix it and install the lines since they'll have it all day. After that, I'm done with all of the mods.

ervins: Thanks for the compiments. I'm "old school" in that I always felt that if you're going to do something to a ride (whether it be a car or MC), it should be functional/performance based. Like I don't know if I'll be able to get myself to buy some CF parts for accents to match the CF bracket that hold the pipes to the rear pegs. I mean, if I were to replace the black plastic side panels and the front fender side panels to CF, that would be the sh!t, but that's another few hundred...I don't know.

Galfer lines? Wow rich guy now...That is good. SS lines are soooo much better than stock. I am sure you will feel the difference. Some upgrades remember, are for safety on not just to say you have it or that is looks good.

+1...It is never done...I replaced the Imperial logos...They were silver and finally got them in chrome. Was darn nice day for a ride today...It was nice...Down south must have been just as gorgeous.

Well, the Galfer lines are great, if I wanted to I could probably get away with only using one finger..maybe I need some Pazzo levers now...NOT! I think that I will be able to resist the "dark side" of wanting those CF panels for the sides and front fender. My machine is done!

And the weather was awesome yesterday, for the first time I got to do both Santiago Canyon and Ortega Highway with a friend of mine who has a Duc ST2. That guy can ride the hell out of that bike! I told him to rip up the curves and that I would probably be a minute behind him after a couple of miles. He's really good at making sure that he doesn't get too far ahead of me, he'd wait for me every few minutes and take off when I caught to him. I have a long way to go but I'm definitely beginning to feel more comfortable with the bike. I was suprised but I was able to take some of the turns upwards to 50mph with is almost a miracle for me on this bike. That Z1 wants to go so much faster but I'm too chicken right now.

Yes, it takes time to get used to a bike...There are still some things I am trying to get used to the bike...Like my braking...Brembo MC and Frentubo SS Lines make this bike stop quick...Which in turn made me slide down the seat when braking was close...Got StompGrips a week ago and now that is gone...Again, making your bike YOURS so that it meets your needs...That is when the fun starts...Now taking a 20mph turn at 60 is the best...You'll get their bro...You will.

Dude, I know the feeling. I'm trying to get used to my new bike, since it handles sooo much differently than I'm used to!

It is fun though...Takes a bit...You will learn something new everyday for a few months. Both of you enjoy your new rides. I am happy for the both of you.
